A Birthday Present
I was looking for a birthday present in a shopping mall yesterday, but couldn’t find it. After I came home, I came across one video on YouTube.
In it, a YouTuber( Ruri Ohama:Instagram account: @ruriohama )was sharing her opinion on a book entitled “Steal like an artist”. And then, I realized that this is the book that I wanted as a present. Since I’ve not read yet, I’d just like to share a couple of thoughts about the book today.
What is great about this book is that it teaches us that there is no such thing as original. In other words, it is impossible to become fully original or to come up with something that nobody has not created before. We have strange nature that makes us want to be unique, different, so on and so forth.
Every great artist in the history is influenced by others. To put it another way, everyone is stealing. However, the point is that they mash up and mix, and eventually assemble things that we call “art”.
Even thought, I’ve just watched a couple of review videos, but this book has already changed my approach to life. After the shipment arrives my home, I’ll give my detailed review here on Medium.
